I am a 31-year-old, 7th generation Colorado native, and single father of one. At 13 years old, I got wrapped up in addiction and was in the court system from the age of 14-24. I've been charged with 5 felonies and never convicted of them by the grace of God and good lawyers. Given my former lifestyle, I'm super blessed to be alive and out of prison. A lot of people close to me were not so lucky. When I had a kid, it changed everything for me. In 2020, I started Home Grown Roofing and Contracting at 26 years old. Now I'm a successful business owner and a good father to my son James. My background and current lifestyle can help bring inspiration and hope to those who are still struggling.

Autumn Swain

Peer Coach

My name is Autumn Swain, and I am an alumni of Sparkle LLC. I was first arrested back when I was just seventeen, and that was just the start of my very long journey with jails and institutions.  From age 17-25, I was in and out of jail and prison. In April 2019, I was released from Denver Women’s Correctional Facility on parole. I made it maybe two or three months before I relapsed. As much as I wanted a new life, I wasn’t sure how to grasp it. Familiarity and comfortability were where I found myself. In June 2020, I went to the New Beginnings Recovery Center. I did a thirty-day stay and found myself surrounded by people who struggled with similar struggles. I found a family and a new place to feel comfortable. I soon found myself in the rooms of NA.   In August 2020, I was hired at New Beginnings Recovery Center as a client liaison, eventually working my way up to the administrative assistant position. I realized along the way that my passion isn’t just for helping others; it’s for helping those who are just like myself. The people who have struggled with addiction and abandonment, who have been incarcerated, and the mothers who have had to fight to keep their children. Today I am a recovery coach for Rooted 303 and Mountain West Recovery. I have been sober for four years, and for the first time in ten years, I have been off parole for almost four years. I am raising a wonderful little boy. I am now able to help other people who are struggling to find their way in life. I am now able to help other mothers who are fighting to get their children back.
